March 25, 2014

I went on exchanges and had dinner in the biggest house I've ever been in.  And when we were done we got to go down a huge hill because he lived up in the mountains, and he followed closely behind and said we were going 44 on our bikes.  His name is Brother Hipwell and his house was sooooo nice, you could see the whole valley and it was so pretty.

I can pretty much teach every lesson now.  We use pamphlets to teach mostly now instead of Preach My Gospel.   Nothing has been said about my visa.   I like it here.  If I stayed here I wouldn't mind.  I would get more packages from you guys.

Elder Diehl was feeling under the weather so he decided to take a nap during studies.

Our ward mission leader took us to the Los Angeles Temple.  The LA temple is way cool.  Have you been there?

Email Conversation

03/14/14
My mission president gave us a talk about homesickness and he said "Take care of his, and he'll take care of yours." So, if I take care of God's children, he will take care of the people I love!  To email I am at the church in the family history room.  They have computers in here.

We had a baptism. his name is Daniel Paddock.  His older brother who got baptized a month before performed the ordinance.  It was a pretty cool experience, even though I didn't really teach him, I invited him so it kind of counts.

Everybody is cool and we always get fed dinner.  But it's not too bad out here.  We are going to the LA temple on March 25th.

Dave sent this to Justin on email:  Are you there:  Justin's reply:  Where?
I just thought that was funny.

His address again:

Hi Mom,

I'm loving it out here in Covina, CA.  Everyone here is so nice.  I've already committed two investigators to be baptized!  One of them won't do it I don't think.  Daniel Paddock is getting baptized by his brother, David, who the missionaries before me baptized a month or so ago.  His baptism is going to be held this Saturday at 4:00.  It's gonna be awesome to see!

Anyways there is this member names Johnathan Starr!  He is awesome.  He took us to dinner at a Mexican restaurant and afterwards he was telling us about his mission to Australia and he showed me the Money pouch he got there.  He proceeded to tell us that it was mad of kangaroo scrotum.  Hahahaha.  It was so funny.  He's my favorite member.  He has a way nice house and a huge pool.

Elder Diehl is my comp.  Pronounce Elder Deal.  He is pretty cool   He has taught me a lot so far.  Every person I meet makes a "tall" comment.  It's annoying.

Hope everything is good @home.  Send me packages.  Love you

Elder B.

Hi Mom,

It's really fun out here in CA.  I've already taught 4 lessons and I asked this 20 year old guy to be baptized.  His name is Nick Ramos & he said he will!  So on the 23rd he will be getting baptized.  But, I don't know if he said it just to say it, so we will see.  He has to come to church 3 times first.

My camera broke so if you could send me a new one before I go to Africa that would be greatly appreciated.  Like I said, we use i pads out here & we have every member, investigator, less active, potential investigator on there.  It's pretty cool.  I've biked like 10 miles already and I have a sunburn on my neck & arms & face.  We also walk everywhere.  Oh and the first day I was here we did a service project.  We carried mud down a mtn for 6 hours.  It was oddly fun.

Keep hanging out with Annie and let her know you care.

I don't have much time so I have to go.   Love you!

Email story we received on Monday..03/11/14
Well there is a member named Johnathan Starr and he took me and Elder Diehl out to dinner one night.  He started telling us all about his mission and how fun it was.  Then he was like "Here's a money pouch that I got in Australia on my mission".  It was like leather and it was way soft so I put it up to my face to feel the softness on my cheek.  Then bro. Starr was all like "Elder Bradford, you just put kangaroo scrotum on your cheek"  Lol
My Comp is prtety cool.  He is kinda a nerd and sometimes he is awkward but it's ok.  I am in Covina.  It isn't that ghetto.  It's like every race mixed together. Church is fun.  My biggest challenge is people thinking they are funny every time they make a tall joke, I've heard the same ones like 50 times so far.

Arrived in Arcadia

03/04/14

Mom, I have arrived in California.  They told me to write you this letter and they will mail it to you!  Arcadia is in ipad mission so it is a lot different than kenya.  But the people are all so nice.  I haven't got my companion yet but I'm sure he will be cool.  I could see LA when we drove to the mission home.  It was awesome.  Tell everyone hi for me.  Love you!  Elder Bradford   JBrad

Done with MTC...on to the real world

Top Pic is Brother Bastian(teacher), #2 pic is Brother Starkey (Justin's Favorite teacher),#3 Justin's MTC Companions, #4 Elder Justin Bradford and Elder Jayden Whitehead.  They have been friends since 6th grade.

03/04/14  Today we received the phone call from Justin while at the airport.   He currently has a cold but he sounds great.   He saw 6 of his friends while in the MTC.  He played basketball everyday with Elder Justin David ?  from Texas.  So funny that he found the only other Justin David in the MTC! It was his twin except he was black.   The food in the MTC isn't as great as everybody says but there is a lot of it.   Elder Smith, who is also going to Kenya, is also going to the Arcadia mission to wait for his visa.  Justin hopes his companion is not a Beavis.   Dave, via Provo Bakery, sent some treats last Tuesday and Justin said everybody in the MTC got a donut:)  Justin said his bags were a bit overweight but the airlines didn't charge him.  (already getting blessings by being obedient)  Isn't he so freaking CUTE!!!!  Notice...every single picture he is happy!    He is on his way to changing lives!
